Message of Peace and NOWRUZ from IRAN
Hello to all international Servas members

At these days that governments are talking about war - intimidation and aggression is
exchanged between politicians - people of my ancient country are happy and are going to welcome spring and Nowruz celebration.
NOWRUZ is an Iranian ancient celebration and is also widely referred to as the Persian New
Year in Iranian calendar and marks the first day of spring. The celebration has its roots in Ancient Iran. Nowruz is celebrated and observed by Iranian peoples and Persians that has spread in many
other parts of the world, including parts of Central Asia, Caucasus, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea and some groups in the Balkans, covering Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey,
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan countries for over 3,000 years.
Nowruz was recently added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
of Humanity. And UN's General Assembly in 2010 recognized 21 March as the International Day of Nowruz.
For three thousand years of world history and for three hundred million people today, Nowruz
unites regions and nationalities, religions and languages to share in the renewal of life on the first day of spring."Ban Ki-moon message for Nowruz 2012"
Nowruz holidays are a good opportunity for people during the rebirth of nature, to think
about and rebuild a safer and more peaceful world for generations to come.
I invite all Servas members from all over the world despite of religion, culture and
color, to have a travel to my country in order to be acquainted with ancient and glorious culture of IRAN and peace-loving people, an ancient and rich culture that has been hidden under the heavy dust of politics.

In Peace
